ELENA LANGDON, M.A., CT, CoreCHI
Owner and sole operator of Acolá Language Services & Consulting
I am a bicultural and bilingual professional, American by birth and Brazilian by heart. I have spent my life between the US and Brazil and was educated in both countries during childhood and adulthood. I have been working with languages since an early age, and became a full-time translator/interpreter in 2000.
Recently I worked for 6.5 years as the supervisor of Interpreter & Translation Services at Baystate Medical Center, managing a staff of 50+ interpreters and over 4,000 pages of translations per year. At the end of 2014 I decided it was time to dive back into a solo career and dedicate my time to providing solutions to clients in multiple fields. This is how Acolá Language Services & Consulting was born.
Acolá is a word in Portuguese for faraway or over there. Since I have spent my life between countries and cultures, and especially because most of the Portuguese speakers I work with are far from home, acolá fits well with my business model. My main goal is to bring the faraway closer to home for clients, by bridging cultural and linguistic differences.
Finally, I am a seasoned triathlete. The preparation, mental courage and stamina, and determination it takes to finish 16.1 or 70.3 miles of racing are skills I apply to my translation career. As my client, you can rest assured knowing that I will go the distance for you and your project.
