Teaching & Consulting

I have been designing, implementing, and teaching courses for interpreters and translators since 2005. Formats include semester-long courses at institutions such as the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Boston University, a community college certificate program, continuing education workshops, and remote tutoring. Classes have been language-neutral and language-specific, and student age has ranged from 18 to 60.

I also provide education and training for healthcare providers who work with interpreters and can provide solutions for institutions to provide appropriate language access for their patients. Below are some examples of services.

Healthcare Interpreter Training

I am currently developing webinars for continuing education for healthcare interpreters as well as an introductory course for individuals wishing to begin a new career in healthcare interpreting. The first webinar is free; see more details here.

Onsite Training for Hospitals

Do you need someone to come to your hospital and provide specialized training for new or experienced interpreters? I can help your employees work on techniques, master the standards of practice, and understand their role in the hospital and in the wider scope of the profession.

Language Access Consulting

Are you a new manager or supervisor in a US-based healthcare system whose responsibilities include language access? Are you worried whether you are doing enough for your patients and to follow the law? Are you worried about the cost of delivering accessible healthcare for all?

Contact me if you are interested in learning how I can help you achieve your goals while following federal mandates of language access and patient-centered care.
